  • Lane Motor Museum

The Lane Motor Museum is a non-profit organization that features a collection of mostly European automobiles. It is located at 702 Murfreesboro Pike, Nashville, TN 37210. Jeff and Susan Lane founded the museum in 1958 after starting a family business in the automotive extrusion industry. Today, the museum has over 20,000 visitors per year. It is worth visiting for its beautiful collection and knowledgeable guides.

Founded as a restoration of a 1955 MG TF, the Lane Motor Museum has a wide range of cars and is a great place for families. Many of the cars are still running and in good condition. There are several activities available for kids as well. They can participate in “Daddy Fun Days” where they can learn about the cars and take a ride in a Microcar. A fantastic read about Nashville.

While the Lane Motor Museum is primarily devoted to European cars, it also contains many vehicles from other countries. It is a unique museum, and it is one of the few in the U.S. to focus on these cars. The museum’s collection includes many antiques, motorcycles, and military vehicles. Some of the cars are so rare that they were never sold in the U.S., and others have been sold only once.

The Lane Motor Museum is located in a converted bakery. This space has high ceilings and lots of natural light. It is also close to three major Nashville highways. The museum is open seven days a week, except for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for seniors. Kids five and under are free.

The museum is home to some incredible vehicles, including a fleet of French ACOMA Comtesse microcars, a replica 1936 Carabe, and a 1959 LARC-LX, which is the largest vehicle in the U.S. military’s collection. It is 62 feet long, 26 feet wide, and 20 feet high, and the tires are nine feet tall. Click for more

The museum has a long-standing fascination for Czech-built Tatra cars. The museum’s 1947 T-87 has a Tucker-style aerodynamic body and a rear-mounted air-cooled engine. In addition to the classic cars, the museum also boasts an 80-page illustrated book about its collection.

Setting up a museum is not easy. It requires a significant financial investment and extensive marketing efforts. In addition, it can be difficult to remove cars from the museum’s dioramas. Aside from the financial burden, a museum owner must also generate awareness in the local community. Moreover, it must generate interest among area tourists and attract repeat visitors. The cost of advertising and marketing a museum can be prohibitively expensive.

Visitors can tour the museum’s extensive collection of rare, vintage and modern automobiles. Visitors will also be able to view some rare foreign cars that have never been sold in the U.S. A unique highlight of the museum is its collection of staggered wing aircraft. Most of these airplanes were sold as plans, and were not completed when they were sold. While most were finished and ready for display, somewhere only prototypes. Luckily, the museum still retains a few examples of such vehicles.
